ABOUT GERALDINE

Creating original pieces for the curious art lover.

Over the past few years, I have been transitioning from a life of full time work and raising a family to a different season of my life where I am able to focus my long held passion of creativity.

Now I create what I love and share it with others.

My working process and how it informs my art.

My creative process is constantly evolving, shaped by daily inspirations. Each piece reflects both personal memories and the landscapes I immerse myself in.

Exploring my creative process: from sketchbook to canvas.

  • My process often begins in the pages of my sketchbook. It’s a space where ideas can freely develop—whether through quick pencil sketches or more delicate watercolours.

These initial marks capture fleeting moments, helping me map out ideas that will later find life on a board. I love how watercolours allow me to experiment with transparency and layering, giving form to my thoughts in a soft, fluid way.

  • One of the most fulfilling aspects of my practice is painting landscapes en plein air.

There’s something magical about being out in nature, capturing the ever-changing

light and atmosphere directly on a board. Particularly in Cornwall, where I often paint, the light shifts so quickly, demanding a keen eye and swift brushwork. I’m especially drawn to this challenge, as it pushes me to embrace the spontaneity and immediacy of the moment.

  • Much of my work is inspired by memories—fragments of experiences that I carry with me. I’m fascinated by themes of Anglo-Irish culture, and this has become a recurring thread in my art practice since my time at Dartington College of Arts, studying Art and Design in a Social Context.

Whether through subtle symbolism or colour choices, I like to weave elements of this heritage into my paintings, evoking a sense of place and identity that feels both personal and universal.

  • I increase my knowledge, understanding and creative practice by attending workshops, a regular local weekly class and I am currently on a year long programme at Newlyn Collage of Art.

All these experiences are a wonderful spaces for learning and for sharing ideas with other artists. There’s a strong sense of community, and I always leave feeling creatively enriched.

It’s through this exchange that I’ve come to realise how important it is to continually challenge myself and try new techniques.

  • Finally, Art for me is a deeply healing process. It allows me to express emotions and thoughts that are difficult to put into words. Whether I’m working on a large oil painting or a small watercolour, each brushstroke is a step in my personal journey of reflection and healing.

This creative outlet has become a vital part of my well- being, offering both solace, a means of connecting with others and making friends with people all over the world.
